Alice "Ali"
Avery
March 27, 2024
Alice "Ali" Ruth Blalock Avery, 73, of Greensboro passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at her daughter's home in Durham.
Born in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late George Lester Blalock and Ethel Oakley Blalock.
She is a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother "Grammie", and friend. She always had a love of music and dancing. For many years she shagged with her sweetie Paul. She was always there for friends and family. Her strength, courage, kindness, and class uplifted all those around her. Her working years were spent as an administrative assistant to many top execs of banks and businesses. She finished her career working for top administrators at GTCC. After retiring she pursued a passion for yoga and spent quality time with friends and family. Ali loved the beach, giraffes, and beautiful things. But most of all she loved the people who filled her life, and she enriched theirs in turn. The world has lost one of its shining lights. But that light will shine on, in those that loved her.
"She was a soft wind with the sweetest touch."
Graveside services will be held at 1pm Sunday April 7th, 2024, at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor. Attendees are invited to share a story or speak about Ali if they wish.
There will also be a Celebration of Life held from 1-3pm Sunday April 14th, 2024, at Country Park in Greensboro NC, Shelter #4. Survivors include one daughter, Amanda Lee Avery; one granddaughter, Cordelia Avery Hux; one brother, Marshall Blalock and his wife Angelia, as well as numerous loving cousins and extended family. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Paul Langley.
