Alice
Pegram
November 12, 2023
Alice Rose Reid Pegram
Alice Rose Reid Pegram is now singing with the heavenly angels. She was born April 11, 1940, in Henderson, NC, and departed this life on November 12, 2023. Alice was the daughter of the late William Molden Reid and Mada Cash Reid. She was preceded in death by brothers James William, Joseph Hillery, Arnold Henry, Herbert B, Earl, Gilbert Allen and Wayne Rabon Reid. She was also preceded in death by husband Robert Alexander Pegram. Alice never had children but was a loving and supportive mother figure to her nine nieces and nephews, plus many great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church. Conducted by the Rev. Mark Richardson and Pastor Tony Broome. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens.
Alice spent most of her life sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. She was the embodiment of a missionary, traveling the world as well as within the United States. Alice took the Word to Russia, India, China, Dominican, and others too numerous to mention, traveling the globe multiple times. She did this when it was sometimes at great risk to herself, taking Bibles into places that were not accepting of them. In the United States, she spent many years working in a homeless mission in San Diego that was right on the border of Mexico. Alice not only possessed a minister's license, but also nurse's training. She used both in helping the underprivileged of the world.
Alice never neglected her hometown or friends and family, spending hours listening to people, holding their hand, and praying for them. For the last few years before her health failed, she volunteered as a chaplain at the local hospital. As such she has provided comfort and support to many families going through traumatic times.
A great void is being felt right now by her family, many friends, and those who loved her, even though we know she is reaping the rewards of a good and faithful life in her heavenly home.
The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Currin, William Coker, Billy Spain, Michael Reeves, Jimmy Owen, and Bruce Harp.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church at 905 Americal Road, Henderson NC 27537.
Arrangements are by Sossamon Funeral Home of Henderson. Online condolences can be made at www.sossamonfuneralhome.com.
