Aline Mangum Campbell, 98, of Creedmoor, NC, and Richmond, VA, died on November 23, 2022 at home in Creedmoor.
Aline was born to Lonnie Wyatt Mangum, Sr. and Lona Sanford Mangum on October 26, 1924 in Creedmoor, North Carolina. She grew up on a working farm in rural Granville County between the towns of Creedmoor and Wilton. After graduating from Creedmoor High School, she worked for Carolina Coach Company, the local Trailways affiliate in Raleigh, before moving to Washington, DC. where she worked and lived until she retired.
In 1946 she met Owen Campbell through mutual family and friends. They married on December 27, 1950 in Raleigh, NC, and remained married until Owen died in June 2016. They ultimately made their home in the Washington suburb of Takoma Park, where Aline worked as Business Manager of the Home Study Institute of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists until her retirement in 1989 after which they made their home in Richmond, VA.
In addition to her parents, Aline was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Riley Campbell, her brother Lonnie Wyatt Mangum, Jr, and his daughter Laura Mangum Moss, of Burlington, NC, and her sister Sarah Frances Mangum Shore of Kernersville, NC. Surviving family include her sons Neal Campbell (Gwynn) of Vero Beach, FL, and Lane Campbell (Ruth) of Anchorage, AK, and grandchildren Lauren Marie Campbell, Samuel Campbell, and Silas Campbell, all of Anchorage, sister Elna Mae Mangum Holmes, and brother Gilbert Sanford Mangum, each of Creedmoor, NC, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as friends in Richmond who were family to her.
The family is grateful for her caregivers Eyvone Morgan and her daughter Alexis Crudup, and Carolyn and Leonard Parker, who each provided loving care in recent weeks.
Interment will be at a later date in the Rogers Cemetery in Creedmoor, NC. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to a charity of your choice.
