December 3, 2023
Dateline: Youngsville, NC
Amy Catherine (Braswell) Boyd 70, of Youngsville, NC, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at her home.
Born in Edgecombe County, she was the daughter of the late Willard Clifton Braswell and Miley Mae (Murray) Braswell.
Born in 1953 and growing up in Rocky Mount, she had many friends that she remained close to throughout her life. Amy was a graduate of Rocky Mount Senior High School and later from ECPI. Which led to a career in Duke University's information technology department, where she spent the next 36 years. She loved her job but most of all she enjoyed her friends and co-workers.
After retiring in 2010 she volunteered for several years at Duke Hospital Cancer Center, where she acquired many dear friends that she kept in touch with over the years.
Upon meeting her future husband in 1972, Amy and Jerry relocated to Durham where they remained for the next 47 years. In 2019, they decided to start a new adventure moving to Youngsville and into the Winston Ridge neighborhood. Making new friends and neighbors, she even joined the neighborhood BUNCO group!
She was the love of her husband's life, a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She showed her devotion to family by caring for her mother for the last 10 years of her life.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-one years, Jerry William Boyd; one son, Chris Boyd (W:Sara); one daughter, Megan Jack (Boyd) (H:Travis); five grandchildren, Emilie Boyd, Lyndsey Boyd, Avery Boyd, Brendan Boyd and Bodie Jack; one sister, Jane Green; one brother, Cliff Braswell; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She will be carried in her family's hearts forever.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Creedmoor. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
