Obituary

Anita Lynn Kincaid, 63, of Butner, NC, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Duke University Hospital.

Born on December 24, 1962, at Watts Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, Lynn was the daughter of the late Larry and Carolyn Kincaid. Lynn lived a life marked by love, dedication, and kindness. She was known for her infectious smile and heart of gold.

Lynn graduated from South Granville High School in 1981, where she excelled academically. She participated in several clubs and was named “Outstanding Senior” for the Class of 1981. She was also a standout athlete on the softball team and a majorette all four years of high school.

Following graduation, Lynn attended Durham Technical College and went on to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She took great pride in caring for her patients and being an advocate for those in need. Outside of work, she enjoyed annual trips to the beach with her family, attending events to support her family and friends, and taking care of her beloved dog, Riley.

Lynn is survived by her daughter, Zoe Hodgin of Roxboro; her brother, Mike Kincaid of Butner; and her niece, Ashley Kincaid (Robert) of Winchester, VA. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence “Larry” Kenneth Kincaid; her mother, Carolyn Glover Kincaid; and both her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Those who knew Lynn will remember her for her character, integrity, and resilience. Her legacy of love, generosity, and friendship will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A funeral will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home in Creedmoor, NC. The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. The service will be followed by a burial at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
