Arlene F. Smiley

Arlene Ford "Sister Lucy" Smiley, 83 of Henderson, NC died Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Louisburg Nursing Center in Louisburg, NC.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late John Robert Ford and Hallie Coley Frady.  She was the widow of William David Smiley.

Mrs. Smiley was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and she enjoyed doing volunteer work and helping others.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Dr. Gene Wood.  Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving are two daughters, Melanie S. Cranmer (Ryan) and Phyllis S. Stokes; three sisters, Gladys F. Perdue, Darlene Frady and Charlene Frady; three grandchildren, Nicholas Smiley, Jason Stokes and Ethan Stokes, and five great grandchildren.  Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Stokes.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., at Sossamon Funeral Home.  All other times, they will be at the home of Ryan and Melanie Cranmer, 1206 Massenburg Road Henderson, NC  27537.
