Benjamin Franklin Hicks 82, of Henderson, NC, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025, at Duke University Hospital.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Joshua Otho Hicks and Martha Jane Williford Hicks.

He was a long-time member of Island Creek Baptist Church as well as the Henderson Moose Lodge.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Island Creek Baptist Church. Conducted by the Rev. Johnny Yount. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of forty-six and a half years, Kay Bowen Hicks; two sons, Benjamin A. Hicks (Ginger) and Douglas Mustian (Leigh); seven grandchildren, Lilly Hicks, Chloe Hicks, Piper Hicks, Levi Hicks, Matthew Goodwin (Jen), Megan Long (Matt) and Jackson Mustian; two great grandchildren, Remington Ray and Brody Long; two sisters, Margaret Robinson and Betty Hicks Boyd; one sister in law, Vicky Hicks; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. At other times they will be at the home.

Pallbearers will be Larry Ayscue, Wayne Stegall, Wayne Rutledge, Bert Edgerton, Dennis Wilder and Troy Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Allen and Rickie Causby.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Island Creek Baptist Church, 950 Stagecoach Road, Henderson, NC 27537, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, at www.stjude.org or a Cancer Research Charity of your choice.
