Betsy Sneed
Eaves
December 26, 2025
Betsy Ann Sneed Eaves, 94, of Epsom, North Carolina, passed away on December 26th, surrounded by her loving family. Born in October 1931 in Long Island, New York, Betsy embraced life with joy and lived each day with kindness, hard work (inside and outside the home), and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Betsy dedicated her life to raising her children, caring for her parents as they aged, and working alongside her family on their farm. She also contributed many years to Eaves Insurance Agency before spending the concluding chapter of her career as a receptionist at Louisburg Nursing Home, where she retired.
Outside of work, Betsy found happiness in the simple pleasures that filled her days with meaning. She rarely missed her son's basketball games, cheered faithfully for the Tar Heels, and loved watching her granddaughters play volleyball. From childhood through adulthood, she delighted in going to the movies. Music and dancing were among her greatest joys—she never passed up a chance to dance. She especially adored Tom Jones, and one of her favorite memories was seeing him in concert for the second time in 2018, a surprise gift from her grandchildren.
Betsy also had a fondness for sweet tea, dessert, and flags—small things that brought her big joy. She was endlessly proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She lived with gratitude, asked for little, and appreciated everything her family did for her. To many, she was a second mother and a favorite aunt, always offering love, humor, and support.
She is predeceased by her parents, Herman Henry Sneed and Arlene Averette Sneed. She is survived by her brother, Bobby Sneed (Jean), two nephews, Robbie Sneed and Thomas Sneed; her son, Russell Eaves (Deborah), along with their son, Tyler Eaves; her daughter, Kaye Thrasher, and her sons, Colin Thrasher and Harrison Thrasher ( Sierra) ; her daughter, Tammy Ayscue (Robin), along with their daughters, Kara Ayscue Edwards (Aidan) and Addison Ayscue Brantley (Hunter). She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren—Elliott Brantley, Fisher Brantley, and Henry Brantley.
To Betsy, her greatest legacy was her family. She loved life and lived it fully.
