Betty Harrison Edwards, 91, of Henderson, NC, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026.

Born on July 10, 1934, in Roanoke, VA, to the late Mary Elizabeth Fleming and the late Hollie Lee Harrison. Betty lived her life with a love for family, music, and community.

She was the widow of the late Billy (Bill) Claude Edwards.

Betty found delight in nurturing and spending time with her children and was always present at their activities. She hosted many joyful family gatherings, Christmases, and Thanksgivings over the years. Betty loved her friends and church family, always reaching out by phone to those who needed encouragement. For fifty years, Betty sang in her church choir. She passed her love of music along to her children and faithfully ensured that they grew to know God. That blessing continues to be passed on to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church. Conducted by Rev. Tim Burgess and Rev. Steve Brown. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

She is survived by three daughters, Claudia Grissom (Wayne), Vickie Hutchins (Jerry) and Tracy Cutts (Jason); one son, Billy Edwards (Denise); nine grandchildren, Matt Grissom (Brooke), Addison Hutchins, Joshua Hutchins, Leah Edwards (Holly Aracich), Rebekah Edwards, Mary Barnes (Brandon), Bradlee Ray (Isabelle), Hailey Cutts and Jessie Hill (Alex); six great-grandchildren, Mattie, Eva Lee, Emersyn, Gracelyn, Luke and Everleigh; and two brothers, Lin Gupton and Tim Gupton.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. At other times they will be at the home of Billy and Denise Edwards.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Betty, may be made to New Sandy Creek Baptist Church, 1699 Weldons Mill Rd., Henderson, NC, 27537.
