Betty Vivian Smith Holloman, age 83, passed away on Thursday, September 24th peacefully with her sons by her side, after a long life well lived. Born on May 27th, 1943, in Creedmoor, NC to Robert Lee Smith & Sarah Katherine Rogers Smith, Betty grew up surrounded by a close-knit extended family of siblings and cousins, relationships that remained deeply important to her throughout her life.

Betty graduated from Creedmoor High School, then moved to Charlotte, NC where she met her husband, the late Loye Eugene Holloman. In 1967, Betty and Loye married and together they shared 48 years of love until his passing on Christmas Eve in 2015. Together they raised two sons, Paul and Adam, and built a life centered on faith, family, and devotion to those they loved.

As a mother, Betty faithfully and lovingly cared for her sons, spending countless hours over the years at baseball fields and supporting them in whatever they pursued. Her family will remember her extraordinary patience, kindness, and quiet devotion to those around her.

To her grandchildren, she was simply "Granny." Their visits meant the world to her, and she was always ready to welcome them with freshly baked cookies and a warm hug. The love she had for them, and they for her, was immeasurable.

Betty worked for many years as a teacher's assistant with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where her patience and caring nature were well suited to working with children. Earlier in her life, she worked for Eastern Airlines in Charlotte. She was also an active member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Charlotte, a faith community that she loved and whose members she cared for deeply.

Above all else, Betty was devoted to her family. Some of her greatest joys came from simply being with the people she loved - her siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Christmas gatherings with the extended family at her childhood home in Creedmoor were among the happiest and most anticipated occasions of her year.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home in Creedmoor. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Betty is survived by her sons, Paul Holloman and wife Autumn Pilgreen Holloman of Nashville, North Carolina, and Adam Holloman and wife Christina Aden of Johns Creek, Georgia; her grandchildren, William Holloman, Harper Holloman, and Abby Aden; her brother, Warren Smith; her sister, Judy Smith Haskins; and many beloved members of her extended family.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Loye Eugene Holloman; her oldest son, Brad Eugene Holloman; her sister, Linda Smith Miller; and her brother, Johnny Smith.
