Betty Jean Minor Adcock, 85, of Oxford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Brantwood Nursing and Rehab Center surrounded by family and friends. Born in Granville County on March 26, 1941, she was the daughter of Hughie and Alma Averette Minor.

Betty Jean graduated from Oxford High School in 1959 and especially enjoyed getting together with her former classmates in recent years. She retired from Granville Hospital and then worked at Bob’s Barbecue in Creedmoor. She never met a stranger and enjoyed working at the restaurant and seeing family and friends that frequented there. She was a faithful member of Delrayno Baptist Church before her health declined. Betty Jean, affectionately known as Nannie to those she loved dearly, loved her family fiercely.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at Delrayno Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Joe Don Cooper. The family will receive friends in the church parlor after the service. A private interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Debra Adcock Weary (Randy), and son, Rickey Adcock (Cori); four grandchildren, Trent Brummitt, Paige Brummitt, Clay Brummitt (Taylor) and Riggs Adcock; four great grandchildren, Evan Brummitt, Olivia Brummitt, Tyler Morrison, and Trent Brummitt II (TW); a sister-in-law, Julia Minor; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was predeceased by her husband, Allen B. Adcock, two sisters, Doris Minor Parrott Brogden and Ruby Minor Mangum, a brother Billy Minor and a niece Linda Mangum Fogleman.

A special thank you is extended to the Brantwood Nursing and Rehab Center staff, Dunmore Senior Living staff, Amedisys Hospice, and a special friend and caregiver, Mary Ellen Stovall.
