Obituary

Bobby Ray Proctor, Jr., known as "Shag," age 66, was born on June 30, 1959, in Durham, North Carolina. A longtime resident of Granville County, Bobby passed away surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of devotion and deep affection for those he loved.

Bobby was the son of the late Katherine Carroll Roberson and Bobby Ray Proctor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Faith Helen Proctor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia Brogden Proctor; his sons, Bobby Proctor (AC) and Kenny Proctor (Hannah); and his cherished grandchildren, Kelsey, Collin, Kase, Tucker, and Brooks, who were the light of his life; his sisters, Karen Seagroves (Joe) and Gayle Clark; and his brother, Steven Carroll Proctor.

Bobby worked for many years as an auto body technician, taking great pride in his skill, dedication, and attention to detail. Beyond his work, he found joy behind the camera, capturing special moments through photography—especially family memories, NASCAR events, grandchildren, and weddings. He treasured time spent with his family at the beach and the lake, creating moments that will be remembered for generations.

A devoted grandfather, Bobby was his grandchildren's biggest fan, cheering at ballgames and always eager for fishing trips, shopping outings, and family vacations. Known as "StreetBob," he had a passion for riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, logging countless miles alongside close friends, RJ and Mike. Whether planning the next road trip, vacation, or simply the next meal at a favorite restaurant, Bobby embraced life with eagerness and anticipation. His dogs, constant companions over the years, held a special place in his heart and brought him great comfort and joy.

A service to celebrate Bobby's life will be held on Saturday, December 20th, at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home in Creedmoor. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow in the family cemetery.

Bobby Ray Proctor, Jr. will be remembered for his generous spirit, his love for family and friends, and the many lives he touched through his kindness, loyalty and presence.
