It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bonita Joanne Carey Kolb, age 74, of Kittrell, N.C. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on February 12, 2026.

Born on October 8, 1951, in Sandy Hook, MD, she was the daughter of the late Virgie Mae Reynolds Carey and George Matthew Carey.

Bonita dedicated her life to the service of the Lord and her community. Her commitment began as a young child, working alongside her mother with the Salvation Army and caring for the elderly. Alongside the love of her life, she became an ordained minister, serving their church in numerous capacities over the years. Together, they worked as youth pastors, school principals, and teachers, mentoring local youth and fostering dozens of children. Before her retirement, she served as a licensed court advocate for children. Bonita always gave above and beyond to those around her and will be greatly missed by her family and many loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dennis Lee Kolb Sr.; her brother, Gary Wayne Carey Sr.; and her granddaughter, Cassandra Joanne Kolb.

She is survived by her brother, Tommy Carey; her daughter, Shantell Renee Kolb; and her son, Dennis Lee Kolb Jr. she also leaves behind her grandchildren, Christopher, Trisha, Matthew, Joshua, Sebastian, Hannah, and Benjamin; and her great-grandchildren, Reyna, Layla, Christian, Leandra, and Killian, and several nieces and nephews.
