Brenda Carol Whitfield, 82, of Creedmoor, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, at her home.

Born in Granville County, NC, she was the daughter of the late George R. Whitfield and Lillie Mae Fuller Whitfield.

Brenda retired from Duke University after many years of dedicated service.

She was a loving mother whose life was centered around her family. Her quiet strength, gentle spirit, and unconditional love were felt by all that knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori K. Evans (Mike); her son, Ryan D. Evans (Michelle); one sister, Patricia Whitfield-Johns of Burlingame, CA; one brother, Gerald R. Whitfield (Laura) of Denver, NC; one niece and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Douglas W. Evans.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
