Saul Brooks Patterson

Saul "Brooks" Patterson, 83, of Henderson, NC passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, at Maria Parham Health.

Born in Warren County, he was the son of the late Douglas Edward Patterson and Mary Belle Patterson.

He was a member of the North Carolina Association for the Deaf. Brooks was the nineth child out of thirteen children.

Surviving is one sister, Carolyn "Carol" Berger; two sisters-in-law, Pam Patterson, and Elaine Patterson; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Alongside his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Nora Short, Nellie Aycock, Sarah Patterson, Peggy Lassiter, and Shirley Hanford; six brothers, Billy Patterson, Glenn Patterson Sr., Perry Patterson, Linwood Patterson, Wayne Patterson, and Jerry Patterson.

A funeral service will be held Monday, June 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home in Henderson conducted by Rev. Frank Sossamon. Interment will immediately follow the service at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service on Monday from 1-2:00 p.m. and at all other times will be at the home of Pam Patterson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dean Short, Johnny Patterson, Jason Patterson, Art Patterson, Devin Hitchcock, and Seth Olmstead.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the NC School for the Deaf or any charity of choice.
