Calvin "Wayne" Melton 80, of Oxford, NC, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Brantwood Nursing and Rehab.

Born in Halifax County, VA, he was the son of the late William Floyd Melton and Florence Shearin Melton.

A funeral service will be held Friday, September 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford conducted by the Rev. Joe Don Cooper. Interment will follow at Meadowview Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of forty-six years, Phyllis Diane Claiborne Melton; one daughter, Kimberly Wright (Blake); one son, Craig Melton (Jaime); four grandchildren, Harper Wright, Blair Wright, Danica Melton and Delaney Melton; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Alma Melton Puryear; and two brothers, Floyd Junior Melton, and William Samuel Melton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. At other times they will be at the home.

Pall bearers will be Chris Claiborne, Derek Claiborne, Bryan Claiborne, Harper Wright, Kenny Bullock, and Jorge Velazquez.
