Carl Wade Brasfield (AKA "Swade"), 73, died on June 12, 2024, at Granville Health System after a short illness.

Wade was predeceased by his parents, Chaplain CL and Vertie Mae Fann Brasfield, and a granddaughter, Summer Suggs.
He is survived by his sister Nora Utley of Charlotte, his children, Wade Bass, Shawn Elizabeth Brasfield, David Brasfield, and Patrick Steger, grandchildren, Jamey Bass, Kimberly Bass, and Hailie Steger, four great grandchildren, (Ryan Cain, Jase Stanley, LJ and Kinsley Lambert), a nephew, Rodney Blount, and maternal relatives from Sampson County and paternal relatives in Texas.

Wade spent time in several states, but for the most part was a North Carolinian, spending parts of his life in Charlotte and Sampson County as well as a number of years in the Chapel Hill/Durham/Chatham County area. His last fourteen or fifteen years were spent in Oxford, NC. He will be remembered by many for the bikes with the ape hanger handlebars he built and rode, his colorful down-East stories and artistic flair, his dedication as a dog walker, and his tree work.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date, yet to be determined.
