Catherine L. Harmon, 79, of Creedmoor, NC passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at her home.

Born in Washington, DC on September 24, 1946, she was the daughter of the late John George Thompson and Elizabeth H. Baker Thompson.

Known for her tremendous and outgoing personality, Catherine brought warmth and joy wherever she went. She was truly a social butterfly who never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved. Her kindness, laughter and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She had a special love for the beach and water, where she felt great happiness and peace. Above all else, Catherine deeply cherished her family and friends and took great pride in being a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel of Creedmoor.

Survivors include her husband of thirty-two years, Richard J. Harmon; four children, Bernadette McDonald (Tony), Stephanie Robertson, Michael Simpson (Janie) and Jessica Crosswhite; twelve grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Teresa Amburgey and one brother-in-law, RC Amburgey.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor.
