Obituary

Charles Ronald “Ronnie” Brooks, 74, went to be with the Lord late Monday night, May 18, 2026. Born on March 28, 1952, in Granville County, Ronnie was the son of the late Marsh Ray Brooks and Annie Laura Young Brooks. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Brooks Blackwell.

Ronnie was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to his family, his faith, and his community. He spent a lifetime working on the farm and faithfully served for 30 years at Murdoch Center. Ronnie was known for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and unwavering love for the simple traditions of life. He enjoyed tending his farmland, gardening, raising bee hives, and making trips to the farmers market. Ronnie was also a devoted and lifelong Duke fan. He was married to his wife, Marcia, for 51 years, and above all, he loved his family deeply and treasured every moment spent with them. A faithful servant of the Lord, Ronnie served as a deacon and participated in numerous church committees throughout the years at Hester Baptist Church. His faith guided his life, and he leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Marcia Gail Mangum Brooks; his son, Brian Brooks (Nori); and his beloved granddaughter, Kamryn Brooks. Flowers are accepted and may be sent to Hester Baptist Church in honor of Ronnie Brooks. Memorial contributions may also be made to Hester Baptist Church. Ronnie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his family finds comfort in knowing he is now resting peacefully with his Lord and Savior.

A visitation will be held Sunday, May 24, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Hester Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m., with a graveside service immediately following.
