Charles J. Collier

Charles Junior Collier, 89, of Henderson, NC died Friday, August 11, 2023, at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Charlie Henry Collier and Katie Pendergrass Collier. He was the widower of Betty Rivers Collier.

Mr. Collier attended South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel of Henderson, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.  Burial will follow in the Coley Family Cemetery.

Surviving are four sons, Matthew L. Collier, Steve A. Collier (Nancy), Nathaniel M. Collier and Michael L. Collier; a stepson, Tasker Fleming and a stepdaughter, Darlene Gill; three sisters, Martha Edwards, Maggie Sawyer and Dorothy Howard, four brothers, Henry "Hank" Collier, Dorsey "Pete" Collier, Mack Collier and Jeff Collier; four grandchildren, April Collier, Alvin Teel, Abbi Collier and Christian Collier and one great grandson, Grayson Teel.  Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Mae Collier, Ellen Barnette and Grace Robinson.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., at Sossamon Funeral Home.   All other times, they will be at the home of Steve and Nancy Collier.

Serving as pallbearers will be Alvin Teel, Christian Collier, Ben Journigan, Drew Rose, Brett Tilley, Scott Collier and Joe Wilson.
