Charles Wayne Grissom 80, of Henderson, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Duke University Hospital with all his girls surrounding him.
Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Buster Brown "B.B." Grissom and Nellie Gray Pegram Grissom.
Charles was hard-working, very loving, caring and an amazing husband, father and papa. He did everything to make sure that his three girls were always taken care of. He was a wonderful role model to his family and loved THE LORD and served him with a servant's heart.
Charles was a longtime member of Raleigh Road Baptist Church where he sang in the Choir, was a member of the Good Samaritan Sunday School Class and served as a Deacon. Charles retired from Clayton Homes as the Head Receiving Clerk.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Henderson. Conducted by the Rev. George Williams. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Frances Evans Grissom; two daughters, Tracy G. Evans (Woody) and Angela G. Burton (Ashley); six grandchildren, Ethan Wayne Evans, Kaleb Alan Evans, William Cole Lewis, Chloe Eleanor Lewis, Jacob Edward Burton and Bryson Lewis Burton; two sisters, Nettie G. Starnes and Peggy G. Saunders; three brothers, Theodore T. Grissom (Kay), Edward W. Grissom and Ronald G. Grissom (Sharen); and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Garner, Christine Orr and Barbara Ayscue; and two brothers, Jessie Lassiter and James Lassiter.
Serving as pall bearers will be Ethan Evans, Kaleb Evans, Jacob Burton, Bryson Burton, Jeff Jones, and Mike Roberson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. At other times they will be at the home.
