Charles Roberts,90, of Rougemont passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Granville County on August 3, 1933, he was the son of the late Charlie Roberts and Cora Bowling Roberts.
Charles was a pillar in the community and had a passion for horses, dogs, farming and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Keith Williams and Reverend William Wheeler.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Mary Dean Roberts; two daughters, Nancy Roberts (Joey) and Wanda Raymer (Keith); one son, Kenneth Hobgood (Linda); six grandchildren, Damien McFalls, Kenny Hobgood (Christina), Tony Hobgood (Dana), Jason Hobgood (Jessica), Dustin Raymer (Christin) and Casey Culin (Kris); eleven great grandchildren, Kaiden McFalls, Alexis Hobgood, Tony Hobgood Jr., Mikayla Hobgood, Presley Hobgood, Alina Anderson, Austin Christenbury, Riley Culin, Dustin Culin, Spencer Raymer and Hayden Raymer; one great-great grandchild, Lucas Hobgood and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Roberts; one great grandchild, Andrew Hobgood and two sisters, Nora Lee Ellington and Alline Hoyle.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
