Charles William Currin Sr. (C.W.), 87, of Creedmoor went home to be with his heavenly father Tuesday,
August 29, 2023 at his home.
C.W. was born in Scotland County to the late Trupe William Currin and Ruby Weaver Currin. He was a
loving husband to Barbara Jean Roberts Currin for sixty-eight years and was a longtime resident of
Granville County. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church. While a
member of Fellowship Baptist Church he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, R.A. leader, choir
member and trustee.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sossamon
Funeral Home of Creedmoor officiated by Pastor Dan Hill. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial
Gardens.
He is survived by his wife Barbara R. Currin; three children, Donna Currin (Mike), Betty C. Chappell
(Donald) and Charles W. Currin Jr. (Brenda); five grandchildren, Jaime G. Norwood (Scottie), Dwayne
Chappell (Samantha), Leslie C. Brown (Kevin), Victoria Currin and Charles W. Currin III "Buddy" (Katie);
seven great grandchildren, Kristen B. Splees, Kaitlyn B. Elliott, Jase Bowman, Alyssa and Savannah
Brown, Kylie Currin and Reagan Currin; one great-great grandchild, Avery Elliott; one sister, Martha
Faye C. Whitfield. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashlee Marie Currin; four sisters,
Mamie Currin, Carolyn C. Turner, Bobbie C. Jackson and Edna C. Noblin Erickson and one brother, Dan R. Currin.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sossamon Funeral
Home of Creedmoor and other times at the home of Barbara R. Currin.
His request is that flowers be omitted, and donations made to St. Jude Children's Hospital at P.O. Box
50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929 or to your church.
