Christine Goss Brogden, 91, of Durham passed away peacefully, Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
Christine was born on September 13, 1932, in Granville County to the late Frank Sanford Goss and Prudence Roberts Goss.
She married Kenneth Brogden on October 13, 1949. To this union they were blessed with four children. Christine worked for about fifteen years at Ligget Myers. At this time, she returned home to continue raising her children. After her children were grown, she opened her home to babysit children. She has helped care for and nurture many children, too many to keep count. She continued to keep children well into her eighties.
Christine was extremely proud of her family and loved them unconditionally.
She had a love for Bluegrass music and spent many Friday and Saturday nights dancing. She would often speak of the fun times she had and the many friends she met at the dances.
Christine was a member of Union Baptist Church in Creedmoor.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor, officiated by Reverend Dan Hill. Burial will follow in the Cannady Brogden Family Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Michael Brogden (Sandra); one daughter, Patricia Proctor (Bobby); nine grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Brogden; one son, Marshall Brogden and his wife Sandra; one daughter, Teresa Brogden and a great granddaughter, Faith Proctor.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor.
