Darene Calhoun Hedrick February 7, 1933- August 6, 2024

Darene Calhoun Hedrick 91 of Henderson, NC went home to be with her Lord on August 6, 2024. She spent the final days of her life at Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Darene was born to Harold and Ione Calhoun in Guilford County, NC. She was the widow of Forrest Rhodes Hedrick. She was a retired receptionist, working 17 years at Maria Parham Medical Center. Darene was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and her husband Forrest she was predeceased by a sister Myra Teague. Left to cherish her memories are a brother, Ronald Calhoun (Sherion), five daughters, Cheryl H. Brooks (Mike), Pamela H. Franklin (Bruce), Susan H. Franklin (Joe), Kristi Hedrick, Kathy H. Gates (Tom), eight grandchildren, Vicky, Karen, Katie, Jeremy, Mollie, Jody, Kirstie, and Morgan. Darene also leaves behind 14 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Blessed Hope Baptist Church on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Dr. Donald A. Perkinson and Chaplain Joe Franklin. The family will receive friends at that time. In the meantime, they will be at the home, 1195 US Hwy 158 West Bypass, Henderson.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Darene's honor to Blessed Hope Baptist Church, 741 Dabney Road, Henderson, NC  27537 or Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 1245 Park Avenue, Henderson, NC  27536. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center staff for the care they provided Darene in her final days.
