Darlene Harris Ayscue 71, of Henderson, NC, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Hock Family Pavilion.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Hartwell Harris and Shirley Jean Raines Harris.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home in Henderson. Conducted by Rev. Johnny Yount.

Survivors include one son, Joseph Clifton Ayscue Jr. (Mary); four grandchildren, Stephen Ayscue (Blair), Jordan Ayscue (Joe Dixon), Morgan Reynolds and Meliah Gilliam (Brandon); two great grandchildren, Eden Gilliam and Reagan Gilliam; one sister, Belinda Matthews (J.L.); two nieces, Crystal Barrow (Marcus) and Bethany Harris (Cameron); one great nephew, Nathaniel Stevenson (Rita); six great nieces, Taylor Stevenson (Jackson), Addison Barrow (Collin), Madi Moore, Layla Moore, Allie Moore and Cambri Carraway; one great great niece, Stella Grace Stevenson; and one step brother, Scottie Barham (Kim). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Leon Barham; one sister, Letisa Harris; two brothers, Keith Harris and Andy Harris; and her grandparents, Andrew and Elnora Raines.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. At other times, they will be at the home of Belinda and J.L. Matthews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the Doctors and Nurses at Duke University Hospital and Hock Family Pavilion for the compassionate care that they gave Darlene during her time there.
