David Eugene Howell, 72, of Warrenton passed away Monday, June 22, 2026, at Duke University Hospital.

Born on April 25, 1954, in Granville County, he was the son of the late Elijah Howell and Julia Beal Howell.

A dedicated truck driver for many years, he took pride in his work and the friendships he made along the way. He had a passion for fishing. When he wasn’t driving, he could often be found at the water’s edge. Most of all, he cherished the time spent and the memories made with family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel of Oxford.

Survivors include one daughter, Pam Cobb (Abner); one grandson, Abner Bryant Cobb IV and one sister-in-law, Peggy Howell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Nelson Howell.
