Born in Granville County, on January 31, 1937, he was the son of the late Thomas Morris and Maggie Brown Morris.
David was a devout Christian and lived his life serving the Lord, always thinking about other people over himself. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday School. He loved children and devoted a lot of time to them, whether it was at home, at church or in the community. David was passionate about hunting and animals, including his dogs, his horse "Midnight" and his mule "Loaf Bread". He was a self-taught guitar player and played often and at numerous places including local nursing homes. David loved to pick and joke with his friends and family but most of all he loved them immensely. He was a retired farmer.
