Dexter M. Crowder

Dexter "Decky" McDaniel Crowder, 71, of Henderson, NC died Monday, February 21, 2022 at Duke University Hospital.

Born in Northampton County, he was the son of the late Kelly McDaniel Crowder and Blanche Anna Pierce Crowder.

He was a member of South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church and an avid fisherman.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary "Beth" Johnston Crowder; two sons, Michael Todd Crowder and Eric Preston Travis; two granddaughters, Megan Louise Crowder and Christian Danielle Crowder (Dillion); four great-grandchildren, and one aunt, Mildred Pierce Harris (Harvey). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jason McDaniel Crowder; and two brothers, Donnie Ray Crowder and Kenneth Earl Crowder.

The family will receive friends at Sossamon Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:15 to 2:00 p.m., at other times they will be at the home.
