It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Don Carroll Washington, who departed this life on April 25, 2025, at the age of 81.
Born on September 28, 1943, Don lived a life marked by dedication, quiet strength and deep love for his family and community. A lifelong resident of Creedmoor, North Carolina, he spent his early years working alongside his father as a tobacco farmer- an experience that shaped his work ethic and appreciation for honest labor.
On May 4, 1963, Don married the love of his life, Faye Beck, beginning a partnership that spanned more than six decades. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter and resilience.
After farming, Don began a long and steady life at Altec, where he worked faithfully for over twenty years until his retirement on July 20, 2005. His commitment to his work and coworkers left a lasting impression, and he was respected not only for his skill but for his reliability and humility.
In retirement, Don enjoyed the things that gave him the most joy- traveling to new places, and spending time on the golf course. Whether exploring a new destination or teeing off on a sunny day, he found peace and happiness in life's simple pleasures.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Faye Beck Washington; his sisters, Martha Purvis (Bill) and Shirley Elliott and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George William Washington and Evelyn Goss Washington; brother, George Thomas Washington; sister, Fay Bowden and brother-in-law, Haskins Elliott.
He will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his quiet sense of humor, and the strength with which he approached life's challenges.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Creedmoor. Reverend Jim Shelley will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday, April 28, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor.

He was a man of few words but endless heart- and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
