Dr. Donna Welch Blakebrough Eatmon, loving wife and mother, went to join the Lord, February 18th, 2025.

A devoted educator, she served the students of Vance County for over 25 years as both a teacher and administrator in Vance County Schools. Her passion for helping our youngest citizens was a driving force in her life, leading many of her pupils to follow in her footsteps as educators.  Not only did Donna enjoy teaching others but she also enjoyed the pursuit of knowledge. A lifelong learner, she took up the violin after retirement and enjoyed practicing when able, even if it was simply a joyful noise. She strived to better her mind and understanding of the world around her. Her love of reading was a gateway to other places and ideas.

A native of Lakeland, Florida, Donna loved her time at the shore and ventured to her beloved Atlantic Beach every opportunity she could get away. The shore was her happy place, and the sound of the waves brought a calming peace to her life. Her love of the outdoors and hiking sent her on many adventures throughout her adopted state of North Carolina. Accompanied by her devoted husband James, she sought new experiences, like sea kayaking and motorcycle trips, always with the goal of enjoying a new experience every time. Donna was a great storyteller, and her tales would open up into different directions taking the listener on a journey through history and family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and doted on them every chance she had.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Conducted by Dr. Randy Pittman.

She is survived by her husband James Randy Eatmon, her children Jon Paul Young II (Sara M. Young), Brian Keith Eatmon (Heather Coker Eatmon), Cameron Mitchell Eatmon (Ashley Cooke Eatmon) and her grandchildren Brylee Eatmon, Jackson Eatmon, Emerson Eatmon, Jacob Young, and Sofia Young.
