Mary Donna Holmes, 61, of Franklinton passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Granville Health System.
Born on September 1, 1961, in Tifton County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Todd Holmes and Dorothy Eileen Vance Holmes.
Donna taught elementary school for more than thirty years, most recently at Richland Elementary and loved all of her "babies" dearly. She was passionate about gardening, working in her yard and recently found a new love for golfing. Above all else, she had a deep and unbinding love for her three children and grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Friday, July 28, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Oxford.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy "Dee" Elizabeth Epps (Blair Duke); two sons, James Franklin Epps III (Hope Brummitt) and John Robert Epps; three granddaughters, Aubree Elizabeth, Olivia and Kennedy; two sisters, Leslie Holmes and Rhonda Stone (Jimmy); her significant other, Charles Houchins; two nieces, Marie Crumley and Jennifer Stone (Corey); one nephew, Wesley Hunter Jr. (Lakyn) and numerous great nieces, great nephews and extended family. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one nephew, James Stone and two uncles, Marion Holmes Jr. and Bill Vance.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 28, 2023 from 1:30 – 3:00 at Sossamon Funeral Home of Oxford and other times at the home of Dorothy "Dee" Epps.
