Doris Adcock Cooper, 81, of Henderson, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, with her loving family by her side. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 63 years, Sam Wilshire Cooper.

Doris was born in Granville County and attended Stovall High School, graduating with the class of 1963. Throughout her working life, she was employed with Americal Hosiery Mill, Henderson Farm Supply, Frazco Realty, and State Employees’ Credit Union, where she retired as a customer service representative. She was also well known throughout the community as the “Stanley Lady,” representing Stanley Home Products for many years.

Doris was a faithful member of Tungsten Baptist Church, where she served as a longtime Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, choir member, and member of the WMU. She also sang with the Joiland Singers at church. Doris loved her church and church family dearly.

She was a headstrong and determined woman who was always willing to help anyone in need. Doris was a supportive mother, loving grandmother and great-grandmother, and a cherished friend to many. She took great joy in her flowers, creating artificial arrangements, and tending to her outdoor flower beds. She also had a great love and passion for UNC basketball.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Wilshire Cooper; her parents, Otha Howard Adcock and Maudie Leigh Adcock; her brother, Howard Lewis “Butch” Adcock; and her adopted nephew, Bobby Lewis Adcock.

She is survived by her children, Johnny Cooper (Debbie), and Bradley Cooper (Joan); her grandchildren, Jacob Cooper (Vivien), Joshua Cooper, and Braden Cooper; her great-granddaughters, Avery Cooper and Rowan Cooper; her sisters, Priscilla Tingen and Rosemary Elliott; and her special niece, Stephanie Tingen.

A celebration of Doris’s life, officiated by Rev. Joe Don Cooper and Rev. Earnie Taylor, will be held at Tungsten Baptist Church on October 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow the celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates memorial contributions made in Doris’s memory to the Tungsten Baptist Church Building Fund.
