Obituary

Doris Hill Woodlief, 99, of Oxford, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, three months short of her one hundredth birthday.
Born in Durham County, she was the daughter of the late Deloney and Hattie Gray Hill. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marshall F. Woodlief, three brothers, Victor, Everette, and Weldon Hill, and one sister, Judy Elliott.
Surviving are three sons, Glenn (Linda) of Oxford, Rick (Karen) of Cary, and Jay, also of Oxford; three grandchildren, Neil Woodlief (Charlene) of Garner, John Woodlief (Kayla) of Cary, and Ginny Hobgood (Robert) of Pinehurst; and three great-grandchildren, Andy Woodlief, Duncan Hobgood, and Juna Hobgood.
Doris was employed in the Central Medical Supply Department of the Murdoch Center in Butner, from which she retired after twenty-five years of service. Her hobbies included reading and traveling with family and friends.
She was a longtime member of Providence Baptist Church and greatly appreciated the visits and other kindnesses from neighbors and friends during her final period of confinement and inactivity.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Oxford conducted by Rev. William Wheeler. Following the service, a visitation will be held by the family with the interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Baptist Church, attn. Tonya Perry, 4603 Old NC 75, Oxford, NC 27565.
