Dorothea
Simberlund
May 19, 2025
It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Dorothea "Dot" Simberlund, of Manson, NC, formerly of Yaphank and Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y. , announce the passing of their beloved matriarch, at the age of 87.
Mrs. Simberlund died peacefully at her home in Manson, of natural causes with her loving family at her side.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Freedom Life Church. Conducted by the Rev. Jeff Prewer. The family will receive friends at the home following the service.
She was born to Louis and Dorothy Lubcker on October 21, 1937. She was the first of four siblings; Marcella, Louis, and Elizabeth. She is survived by her husband of nearly 37 years, William Simberlund.
She had 5 children and was the cherished mother of Allen E. Vooris Jr, (Kathy); Keith Vooris, (Carla); Robert Vooris, Denine Vooris, and Dorothea Hand (Kevin). And the beloved sister of Elizabeth Pagano (Herb).
Mrs. Simberlund was blessed with many adored grandchildren, and their spouses, in addition to great grandchildren, and friends all across the country. She was predeceased by her son, Allen; her grandson, Keith Jr; her mother, Dorothy Lubcker; and siblings Marcella Bohne, and Louis Lubcker Jr.
Dorothea was a long-time member of Freedom Life Church.
She was a self-made, businesswoman since 1969, as the founder and owner of Fieldfine Kennels. Fieldfine is known worldwide for their champion-lineage, German Shorthairded Pointers.
Mrs. Simberlund was very accomplished and deeply admired by her colleagues in the dog show arena. She won more awards, ribbons, and plaques for her champion show dogs than one could count.
She was an ethical breeder of the highest of standards, at times, taking dogs she bred back into her loving, care after years, and finding them permanent homes to live out the remainder of their lives.
Mrs. Simberlund had an immeasurable and contagious zest for life. She loved big and deeply; her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, husband, sister, and beloved German Shorthaired Pointers the primary benefactors of that love.
She was outgoing, hard-working, driven ,and funny; the literal life of the party at any social gathering. People were naturally drawn to Dot Simberlund, and if you were blessed to be in her orbit, you'll understand exactly what I am talking about. To know her was to love her.
While her surviving family will miss her physical presence greatly, we have cherished, unforgettable, memories of this incredible, accomplished, life-force of a woman that will sustain us for a lifetime. And we are deeply comforted by the knowledge that Dorothea now rests peacefully, in the arms of her creator, her loving God, Jesus Christ, for eternity.
