Dorothy O. Elmore

Dorothy Owen Barker Elmore, 97, of Henderson, NC passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Maria Parham Health.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Florence Greene Owen and Graham Jackson Owen Sr.

Mrs. Elmore was a member of Gillburg United Methodist Church.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.

Surviving is a daughter, Barbara Stroud (David Hoke); two sons, James M. Elmore Jr. (Connie) and Bobby Elmore; a daughter-in-law, Vickie Barker and one sister, Joan Williamson; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Elmore Sr., one son, William Bailey Barker Jr, two brothers, William Owen Sr. and Graham Owen Sr. And three sisters, Christine Ramser, Marion Williamson, and Nellie Wilkerson.

The family will receive friends following the service.
