Dorothy Hicks Love, 89, of Butner passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at her son's home.
Born on May 15, 1935, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late William Herman Hicks and Elizabeth Currin Hicks.
Dorothy was a wonderful mom, wife, grandma, mom-in-law, caregiver, friend and the list continues. There are many words to describe her, but the most important is that she is a child of the King.
She knew God and lived a life that reflected Him. Her heart was full of kindness and her ears were always willing to listen.
She was the constant in our family. Her life consisted of joy and of pain, but even in her times of pain, she would be thankful for the blessings from God. In the many roles that God gave her, she did her best to glorify God in them. All that knew her would say she "loved" well.
All the things we love about her came from the One who lived within her heart. The most beautiful words to describe her are 'She is the daughter of the King' and she now resides with Him.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel of Creedmoor. Rev. Dan Hill will officiate. The burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Oakhurst Cemetery in Clarksville, VA.
Survivors include four children, Ronnie Brogden (Deborah), Brent Brogden (TC), Angelia Blalock (Marshall) and Dottie Pabon (John); one step son, Lester Love (Julie); ten grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester R. Love; two sisters, Edna Earl Yates and Margaret Dickerson and one brother, Edward Hicks.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor.
