Douglas
Evans
February 10, 2026
Douglas Wayne Evans, 82, passed away on February 10, 2026. Born in Durham County, North Carolina, Doug lived a full life marked by service, curiosity, and deep devotion to the people he loved.
A proud veteran, Doug served his country in the United States Navy, an experience that shaped his sense of duty, discipline, and patriotism. After completing his service, he graduated from Campbell University and went on to build a long and successful career with IBM, from which he retired with admiration from colleagues and friends.
Doug had a remarkable appreciation for craftsmanship and the beauty of simple things. He found joy in gardening, woodworking, and collecting antiques—hobbies that reflected his patient spirit and attention to detail. At his side for many of life's quiet moments was his beloved Scottish Terrier, Maggie, his constant companion and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Franklin Evans and Flonnie Mitchell Evans, and his siblings, George Evans, Jr. (Martha), Wallace Evans (Mary), Lois Smith, and Unice Frye. Their memories remained a cherished part of his life.
Doug is survived by his children, whom he loved deeply: Lori Kristin Evans (husband Mike) and Ryan Douglas Evans (wife Michelle). He is also survived by his former wife, Brenda Whitfield Evans, with whom he shared many meaningful years and the family they raised together.
Those who knew Doug will remember him for his quiet strength, his sense of humor, his unwavering loyalty, and the care he poured into every project and every relationship. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the family he adored, and the many things he built with his talented hands.
He will be dearly missed.
