Edith Ellen Sherron Poe “Ellen”, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

A lifelong resident of Granville County, Ellen will be remembered for her forever smile and giving heart. A member of Olive Grove Baptist Church, Ellen taught Sunday School for many years.

She worked at Sperry Rand, kept children in her home, was a telemarketer for several different companies over the years, and was an awesome gardener. More than anything, Ellen enjoyed her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church. Visitation for the family will be on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church, 2047 Gate 2 Rd, Creedmoor, NC 27522. Interment will be at the Sherron Family Cemetery on Will Suitt Rd in Northside.

The daughter of the late Ray A. Sherron and Effie F. Sherron, Ellen was proceeded in death by her husband of 54 years, Alexander E. Poe; a son, Robert E. Poe; and a granddaughter, Julia E. Murphy. She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia P. Murphy and husband Rick; sisters Mary S. Carper and husband Chuck, Janice S. Rogers and husband Chuck; grandsons J. Allen Poe and C. Ashton Murphy (special friend Grace), and granddaughter C. Alexandra (Alex) Poe; and many nieces and nephews.
