Edith H. Pope

Edith Holmes Pope – 95, of Creedmoor, NC passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2022 at the home of her son in Durham.

Born in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Bruce Cook Holmes and Ina Evans Holmes. She was the widow of Ralph Aiken Pope Jr., her husband for 64 years.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Conducted by the Rev. Raymond Payne. Interment will follow the service at the Peace - Pope family Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Pope (Mark) and Bruce Pope (Linda); one granddaughter, Emma Pope, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Hicks; and one brother, Carlton Holmes.

Edith's life was noted for her dedication to her family and her church.  She served Wesley Chapel UMC for decades as pianist.  She enjoyed a long working career in business management with several local industries. Her long life allowed her to have a fulfilling retirement spent in hobbies, travel and loving time with family and friends.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 1666 Suitts Store Rd, Franklinton, NC 27525.
