Elbert Marshall Dixon, 94, of Butner passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Duke Regional Hospital.
Born on September 19, 1931, in Hoke County, he was the son of the late Robert "Pete" Luther Dixon and Ruth Fuller Dixon.
Marshall was a member of First Baptist Church of Butner. He served in the United States Army for forty years, during the Korean War and Desert Storm and retired from the N. C. National Guard. Marshall enjoyed working with the Butner Chicken Pickin' Day, the Butner-Creedmoor VFW Post 10777 and the Butner Church Council.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Butner. Reverend Jim Shelley and Rev. Blaine Britt will officiate. Burial will follow at South Granville Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Betsy Dixon; three sons, Ron Derek Dixon (Terry) of Stem, Ricky Marshall Dixon (Peter Tocci)) and Dwain Cully Dixon of Durham; two grandchildren, Seth Dixon (April) of Stem and Jessica Morris (Justin) of Butner; six great granddaughters, Keirra, Kinsley, Kaelyn, Kasey, Chandler and Harper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Allen Dixon and eight siblings.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 10, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Butner.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Youth Camps at First Baptist Church of Butner, 200 W. D St., Butner, NC 27509.
