Ella Laurena Smith Goulet

Ella Laurena Smith, known to most as Lori, was born to John Smith and Eula Smith (Neely) on October 6, 1948 in New Albany, Indiana, peacefully passed away November 21, 2023. In 1966 she married the love of her life Joseph Leo Goulet Jr. Together they had four children: Eula Cheri (Wayne Morrison), Stacy (Eric McKinney), Lori Lynn Adams, and James (Alice Crowder). Throughout the years she was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Natasha, Tiffany, Ashley, Rayechelle, Kayla (Daren Gilleland), Kerstyn (Jr Dickerson), Brendan, Thomas, Christopher, Brandon, Patrick, and 24 great-grandchildren.She is survived by all above except Wayne Morrison and is also survived by her brother Johnny Paul Smith (Carol Smith) and many nieces, nephews and great nieces/nephews. She is proceeded in death by her three nieces, one nephew, her sister (Helen Ford), her half brother (William "Bill" Smith), her mother, father and step-father.

Lori's family and friends knew her as a kind and loving woman who held her faith and love for Jesus very close to her heart. She was an active member of Celebrations Church in Oxford, NC for over 10 years. She was also known for the encouraging cards she sent to everyone she knew to let them know she was thinking of and praying for them. Christmas time often meant weeks of baking cookies with her grandkids to give to family and friends.

More than anything else Lori loved God, her husband, her family, and the many close friends she had in her life. Each and every accomplishment of those in her life was met with celebration and recognition from her. She passed down her love of crafting and sewing to many of the grandchildren and greatgrandchildren in her life. She took great pride in her garden and enjoyed making pickles to share.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
Surely he will save you
from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings, you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
-Psalms 191:1-4
