Dale E Harris

Ellen "Dale" Ellington Harris 79, of Henderson, NC, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023, at Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehab.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Fenner Ellington and Mary Louise Roberson Ellington. She was the widow of Hardie Harris.

Dale was a longtime member of Harris Chapel United Methodist Church in Henderson.

A funeral service will be held Friday, August 25, 2023, at 12:00 noon in the Sossamon Funeral Home of Henderson Chapel. Conducted by the Rev. Tony Evans. Interment will follow at Peace's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include four sisters, Kathy E Strickland (Drennon), Deborah E Allen (Claude), Donna E Young (Dewey) and Linda E Stevens (Jason); four brothers, Jimmy H Ellington (Carolyn), Bobby E Ellington, David L Ellington (Wanda) and Eddie Ellington (Kim); as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Priscilla "Starr" Ellington; one brother, Thomas N "Tommy" Ellington; and her stepfather, Clegg Herrin.

The family will receive friends at Sossamon Funeral Home of Henderson on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Pallbearers will be Bill Allen, Audie Ellington, Stephen Thompson, Kyle Fox, Jonathan Fox and Chris Pendergrass.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Watkins Volunteer Fire Department, 1590 Horseshoe Bend Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
