Elvin "Pops" Oakley, 86, of Stem passed away Monday, January 2, 2023 at his home.

Born in Granville County on December 11, 1936, he was the son of the late William Pender Oakley and Mittie Taylor.

Elvin worked for Neville's Painting Company through the 1950's. He was employed as a supervisor for Carolina Warehouse, which was a shipping and receiving plant for "Nonsense Hosiery" in Creedmoor, NC until 1983, where he was genuinely loved by his employees.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor officiated by Pastor Clayton Voigt. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Cemetery in Stem.

Survivors include, his wife, Margaret Oakley; one son, Eddie Oakley (Elizabeth); two daughters, Brenda Beasley and Tammy Oakley; six grandchildren, Chad, Kevin, Amber, Darius, Blake and Brooklyn; four great grandchildren, Logan, Ava, Trent and Jacob and many friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, and five siblings, J.W. Oakley, Della Williams, Janie Oakley, Roy Oakley and Leman Oakley.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor and other times at the home of Tammy Oakley at 2079 Sanders Rd., Stem, NC 27581.

Pallbearers for the service are Chad Eakes, Kevin Eakes, Darius Williams, Blake Oakley, Jeff Elliott, Jacob Eakes and Trent Eakes.
