Ernest Walker Jr. 97, of Henderson NC, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehab.
Born in Warren County, he was the son of the late Ernest Walker Sr and Mattie Rook Walker. He was the widower of Jeannette Gaynor Arrington Walker.
Ernest was a member of Raleigh Road Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Army where he served as a Sargent in the Korean War for two years. Mr. Walker enjoyed gardening, bird hunting, and fried chicken!
Surviving are a son Lee Walker (Scarlette), daughter Diane W. Reavis (Hoyle) seven grandchildren, Ernie Walker (Barbara), Josh Walker (Maria), Hannah Walker, Savannah Walker, Cliff Reavis (Samantha), Blair Reavis, and Natlie Reavis; one great-grandchild, Cameron Jones, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Alongside his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Jeannette Arrington Walker; three brothers, Gilbert Walker, Robert Walker, and Bobby Walker; and one sister, Lucy Walker.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Kerr Lake Nursing Home on the second floor for their support, love, and excellent care.
A funeral service will be held Monday, January 27, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Raleigh Road Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jack Powell and Rev. George Williams. Interment will immediately follow the service at Sunset Gardens in Henderson.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church from 11-12:00 p.m. and at all other times will be at the home of Hoyle and Diane Reavis, 2471 Nutbush Rd. Henderson, NC 27537.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Jones, Andy Roberson, Burt Edgerton, Neil Harris, Steve Lyles, Wade Woodlief, and Mike Roberson.
