Evelyn B. Currin

Evelyn Blackwell Currin 98, of Oxford, NC died Saturday, October 21, 2023, at a local nursing home.

Born in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Norfleet Green Blackwell and Rose Edna Jones Blackwell. She was the widow of Glen Cameron Currin to which she had been married for sixty-three years.

Mrs. Currin was a member of Oxford Baptist Church, the Jo Ann Slaughter Sunday School Class. She loved the Lord with all her heart.   One of her fondest memories of employment was working at the Pentagon during WW II.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Oxford Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Brett Pardue and the Rev. Pat Cox.  Burial will follow in Hester Baptist Church Cemetery.

Surviving are a daughter, Glenda Currin Currin (Dr. James Currin), a son Rev. Cameron Currin (Wanda); three grandchildren, James "Ben" Currin, Dr. Elizabeth Currin (Dr. Joseph McQuail) and Mitchell Currin (Jennifer), two great grandchildren, Miles Currin and Ellis Currin, along with many nieces and nephews and extended family members. The family wishes to give a "Special Thank You" to Phyllis Jones, Joan Black, Pat Webb, Sharon Thorpe and all the other care givers.  Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Harris and three brothers, Nelson Blackwell, James C. Blackwell and Charles T. Blackwell.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 5:00-6:30 p.m.at Sossamon Funeral Home of Oxford.  All other times, they will meet at her home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oxford Baptist Church "Children's Building" 147 Main Street Oxford, NC  27565.
