Evelyn "Lyn"
Dartt
February 20, 2023
Evelyn (Lyn) Bolling Griffin Dartt, 92, of Oxford, North Carolina died peacefully on February 20 after a brief illness.
Lyn was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Griffin and grew up in Wakefield, Virginia. While in college, Lyn met the love of her life, Bill Dartt, and they were married for 67 years before his death in 2019.
Lyn was a vocalist and lifetime music educator. She was active in the Saint Stephens Episcopal Church in Oxford and was very proud of being a member and soloist in the church choir.
She was family-focused and loved genealogy. Lyn was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Jamestown Society. An avid reader, she was also a member of The Cosmopolitan Book Club and the Tuesday Study Club.
Lyn and her entire family were devoted animal lovers, rescued dogs and supported animal rescue organizations. After her son Harley worked as a strength coach for the basketball program at the University of North Carolina, Lyn followed and supported UNC basketball her entire life.
Her husband and her daughter, Susan Dartt, preceded her in death. Left to cherish her memory is her son Harley Dartt and his wife Martha of Greenville, North Carolina.
The memorial service will be held at Saint Stephens Episcopal Church in Oxford, North Carolina, on Saturday, March 4 at 12 noon. The family will receive guests in the fellowship hall after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saint Stephens Episcopal Church in support of the choir ensemble.
