Evelyn E. Watkins

Evelyn Ellington Watkins, 91, of Henderson, NC died Friday, October 2, 2020 at Maria Parham Health.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late For r est Hight Elling ton and Viola Hoyle Ellington. She was the widow of George Kenneth Watkins Sr.

Mrs. Watkins was a lifelong member of Carey Baptist Church, where she was a for mer Sunday School Teacher and was the former WMU President.

A graveside funeral service will be held Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 1:00 p.m., at Carey Baptist Church Cemetery , conducted by t he Rev. Matt Cowan and Randolph Wilson.

Surviving are on e daughter, Linda Watkins Kelly; one sister, Carolyn E. Ball (Steve) ; one grandchild, Chad Kenneth Watkins and a great-grandchild, Ethan Timothy Watkins.  Along with her pa rents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, G. Kenneth Watkins Jr., two brothers, Gilbert F. Ellington and John A. Ellingto n; and a son-in-law, Jarrett L. Kelly.

Serving as pall bearers will be Ervin Bullock, Brad Weathering ton, Joey Thompson, Jerry Thompson, Doug Puckett and Lee Short.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rebuilding Hope , 414 Raleigh Road, Henderson, NC 27536 or to Carey Baptist Church, P.O. Box 6 37 Henderson, NC 27536.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
