Florence Burroughs Pernell

Florence Burroughs Pernell, 78, of Henderson, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Maria Parham Health.

Born in Vance County on January 6, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Robert Irvin Burroughs and Ruby Pope Burroughs.

She was a member of Hermon Methodist Church. She retired from Superior Chrysler having been employed for 30 plus years.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.at Hermon Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Reavis. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens in Henderson.

Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Leon J. Pernell; one daughter, Juanita Brame (Harvey); one son, Jackson "Jackie" Pernell (Heather); one brother, Bobby Burroughs (Shirley); one sister, Kathleen Timberlake; four grandchildren, Victoria Oakley (Wesley), Tyler Brame (Kate), Makayla Pernell and Ethan McConnell and three great grandchildren, Elijah Brame, Caroline Brame and Cyrus Brame. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Wortham.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Henderson and all other times at the home.

Serving as pall bearers will be Tyler Brame, Wesley Oakley, Justin Burroughs, Todd Holmquist, Tony Pernell, Taylor Hunt, Al Crews and Charlie Timberlake.  Honorary pall bearers will be Elijah Brame and Dale Lent.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Hermon Methodist Church, 6070 Hwy 158 Business, Henderson, NC 27537.
