Frances Rose Morton Ellington

Frances Rose Morton Ellington, 97, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 7, 2023.
She was a native of Warren County and the daughter of Marvin Jerome Rose and Rhoda Zeanie Harris Rose.  She was an occupational nurse having retired from Laurens Glass Company in Henderson and Revlon, Inc. in Oxford, NC.

Frances was a member of Carey Baptist Church and was active in many of the church's organizations and ministries and served as a Sunday School Teacher for more than fifty years.  She was a talented seamstress, an activity she enjoyed and pursued extensively during her retirement years.  She also enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables as well as sharing things from her garden with family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Carey Baptist Church on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., conducted by Dr. Al James. A visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Surviving are her son Vencen Vernon Morton, Jr of Butner, NC and daughter Glenda Rose Morton of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, and her stepson, Ralph Ellington, Sr. (Delores) of Henderson, NC.  She is also survived by four grandchildren: John Christopher "Chris" Morton (Michelle), Suzanne M. Claffee (John), Donnie E. Warren, II (Jennifer) and Neil M. Warren, step grandchildren Ralph Ellington, Jr. (Kelly) and Susan Ellington.  She had five great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren with one more on the way.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband's Vencen V. Morton, Sr. and Hugh Ellington, Jr., her brothers, Marvin Peete Rose and David L. Rose and her sister, Martha Rose Fowler.
